Did you know that we also rescue? We will take in any hedgehog (as well as many other species of exotics) that needs a home, whether it was originally purchased from us or not. After quarantining them for a while, verifying that they are healthy, getting veterinary treatment when necessary, and trying to socialize them as much as possible, we try to find them new homes. There is no genetic health guarantee as we don't know their full lineage or origins, but they will be treated with Revolution Mite Preventative, have been thoroughly looked over by us, and have seen vets for any noticeable health issues.
The adoption fees for rescues vary based on health, age, and temperament. All proceeds go into a fund that we use for our rescue hedgies' medical/pharmaceutical needs, food/bedding/upkeep, and the emergency vet visits we often make when hedgies come in with serious injuries or illnesses.
While the rescues' re-homing fees are substantially lower than the price of babies, we urge our customers not to choose rescues just to get a cheaper pet. These guys often require work and have unknown backgrounds. We prefer to home our more nervous rescues to experienced adults but occasionally there are very friendly rescues that can go to anybody. We will notate in each hedgie's description if they can be homed to any family or if they need an experienced owner to work with them.
