Appointments:
Setting Up Your Appointment
We work by appointment only and breed out of our Cherry Hill home. Appointments can be set up through text, call, or facebook message. We ask that you only set up an appointment if you are serious and plan to take one home. We prefer not to set up appointments more than a week in advance because we operate on a first come, first serve basis and we can't be sure how many babies we will have on a certain date far out in the future. We usually have litters going home every couple weeks and can often make immediate appointments when you call or text. If you happen to contact us during a time when we are in between litters, we will take down your information and call you to set up an appointment as soon as babies are ready to go home. Often babies are selling out as soon as we begin making those calls and never even make it to being posted online. So reach out even if you don't see recent litters being posted as there's still a good chance we have babies going home at that time. Before Your Appointment Once you set up an appointment, you are welcome to text or call us before you come out if you want information on how many hogs we have available that day and what colors/genders we have. We like to text to confirm our appointments either the night before or morning of. We prefer our customers to contact us to cancel/reschedule an appointment at least one day in advance. We also ask that you please contact us to let us know if you will be more than 15 minutes late as we do appointments every hour on most adoption days. We suggest reading through all of our FAQ's before coming out so you know that this is something you want. If you are planning on making your own cage or have one already set up at home, we would like for you to take a photo of it before you come so we can let you know if it is safe for hedgies (we prefer cages with solid sides, no wires, and no levels). We also want you to be prepared for the fact that hedgies are quite sharp, especially as babies. You will likely get pooped on a couple times while handling them all so I wouldn't recommend wearing your best clothes. |
At Your Appointment
When you are here, we will let you interact with all the babies until you pick who you want to bring home. You are welcome to take as much time as you need to decide which baby is right for you. There is no obligation, we don't take any deposits, and we encourage our customers to go home and think it over for a while if they feel unsure. We want anybody who is taking home our hogs to be 100% sure that this is something they want and are ready to care for. We can show you adults as well so you can get a good idea of their mature size and how soft their quills can eventually become. We will then answer any of your questions and give you a full class in hedgie care. We supply you with a care packet that contains information on bedding, food, treats, bathing, bonding, health information, a veterinarian directory, and all of our policies. We also give you a bag of our hog food mix to start off with, and a temporary NJ Fish & Wildlife exotic pet permit (if you live in NJ). We have very minimal paperwork. We sign the policy sheet in your packet, stating that we will honor our health guarantee and refund/exchange policy and we fill out your temporary permit. All you have to sign is our invoice form that we keep for our records and for USDA, confirming your purchase and agreeing to our policies. You can then bring your hedgie home in the starter kit or bonding pouch if you buy one, but we have boxes as well. You're also welcome to bring your own carriers. After Your Appointment We do full follow-up for your hedgie's entire life and we encourage you to call or text us with any question or problems. We love getting updates and pictures and we are always available for advice once you bring your baby home. We really appreciate reviews and photos on our facebook or google page as well. If you are local or don't mind the drive, we are willing to do your hedgie's nail clippings for you free of charge whenever needed. We also babysit (Boarding is $10 a day and while they're here, we will give them a full spa day with a nail clipping, oatmeal bath, and a renewed Revolution mite preventative topical treatment). |
