HazelSex: Female
Age: 1 year old Experience needed: Little to none Hazel is a standard gray female just under a year old. Her temperament is fantastic. Her quills are generally laid back and the only time she balls up is when startled or first woken up. She is almost always relaxed and tolerant, even when we’re clipping her nails or bathing her. She came to us fully litter trained - however she was used to cat litter in her litter box, which is not a safe substrate for hedgehogs, so we have switched her to newspaper pellets and are hopeful that she will remain litter trained and won’t have any issues adjusting to the change. Her background is unknown as she was surrendered by somebody who had been given her by a friend of a friend, but she appears to be perfectly healthy to us. Her one and only issue is that she is significantly overweight so we would recommend that her future owners choose a lower fat cat food, do not free-feed her or give her seconds, avoid too many treats, and ensure she always has access to a wheel and gets lots of time in a play area. She is honestly one of our favorite rescues we've ever gotten in and we have considered keeping her here as a mascot, but we do feel like it would be kinder to let her go to an owner who can give her all of the constant one-on-one love and attention that she deserves. Hazel would make an excellent pet for almost anybody, regardless of experience level. But commitment level is important to us. She is such a sweet, precious girl. We want to find her a stable, forever home that will not cause her to be bounced around and given away ever again. Hazel’s adoption fee is a $125 donation to our vet fund. * All of our current female rescues (Cactus, Minnie, and Hazel) have spent time together after completing their quarantine periods and being confirmed to be healthy. They all get along well and could cohabitate, so we would be open to an adopter bringing home more than one if they wanted to. |
