CactusSex: Female
Age: 1.5 years old Experience needed: Experience preferred, but not required depending on the specific home Cactus is a pretty snowflake pinto female. She isn't very grumpy, rarely balls up, and is not difficult to handle. I would not classify her as having a "perfect" temperament because while she is fine with being handled and doesn't curl up much, she is sometimes still a little bit on edge and does not lay her quills all the way back for us quite yet. It may take a bit of time and bonding to fully earn her trust and show her she is safe to completely relax for you - but even in her "slightly on edge" mode, she is still very easy to handle and will make a great pet. She is 1.5 years old. She does have the slightly frayed ears that are common in adult hedgies, but this is only cosmetic. She is underweight so we have been spoiling her with as many servings of kibble as she likes plus a lot of yummy snacks. We recommend her adopters continue to give her as much food as she will eat and that they are generous with protein-based treats such as insects, scrambled eggs, or cooked chicken. Besides being thinner than we would like, she has no apparent medical issues and seems to be thriving. Due to her being an adult and on the skinny side, her adopters must be willing and able to provide her with any vet care she may need as time goes on. Cactus' adoption fee is a $60 donation to our rescue vet fund. *All of our current female rescues (Cactus, Minnie, and Hazel) have spent time together after completing their quarantine periods and being confirmed to be healthy. They all get along well and could cohabitate, so we would be open to an adopter bringing home more than one if they wanted to. |
